Our barrel-aged black double IPA piles on the hops and oak character for a hefty, powerful pour. This beer is aged in barrels that were previously used for Shipwreck and Bourbon, so it retains some hints of those previous occupants, but brings a fresh perspective to the concept of barrel-aging. Piney, citrusy hops provide balance to the oak character, while the substantial roastiness helps to dry out the finish with a touch of acidity. Wage war: drink Warcraft!
- Appearance: Jet black with a light tan head
- Aroma: Toasty oak at med-low level, piney hops at medium, roasted malt at low level, low level grapefruit and tangerine citrus. Spicy alcohol at medium-high supports the oak and pine. Low level burnt toast.
- Flavor: Medium-high oak backed by spicy alcohol transitions to fruity, piney, citrusy hops. Low level acidity from roast malt helps to finish clean. Petroleum and herbal liquor linger in the aftertaste. Medium bitterness, a touch beyond balanced. Roast is medium-high level and competes with oak.
